How this site is built

The short version

Drupal Drops is a Drupal CMS site, and the way it is built is meant to be copied. Content types, fields and views are configuration made with Drupal's own tools, exported to files and kept in version control. Reusable features are captured as recipes, so each section can be applied to a clean site.

The stack

Drupal CMS 2.2 on Drupal core 11.4, running on PHP 8.4. Pages are built with Drupal Canvas from single directory components in the Drops theme. Learning paths use Entity Views Attachment to list their tutorials, URLs come from Pathauto, search is core Search, and security advisories are pulled by the Aggregator module.

The theme and components

Drops is a base theme with a site sub-theme on top. Reusable pieces are single directory components with schemas, so they can be used in Canvas by editors without touching code. Colours, type and spacing are CSS custom properties defined once.

Recipes and tests

Each section ships as a recipe, and a functional test applies that recipe to an empty site and checks the result. The theme has its own tests that run without any contrib modules. Both suites run before every commit and again in continuous integration.
